As an accounting specialist at Patty Slaps, you’ll play a crucial role in managing our financial processes, from budgeting and forecasting to financial reporting and analysis. You’ll work directly with our finance team to ensure the smooth execution of our projects, funding initiatives, and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Transaction Recording and Documentation
- Accurately record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, expenses, sales, and invoices.
- Maintain thorough and organized documentation for all financial transactions.
- Account Reconciliation
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial statements.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable Management
- Track and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Prepare invoices for customers and process payments for vendors.
- Prepare the payments for vendors and suppliers.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial summaries on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Provide accurate financial data to assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Tax Preparation and Compliance
- Prepare and file tax returns, including GST, HST, and other provincial or federal taxes, and ensure timely submission.
- Stay updated on tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance in all financial activities.
- Budgeting and Financial Analysis
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor expenses against budgets.
- Analyze financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Audit Support
- Prepare and organize documentation for internal and external audits as required.
- Address auditor inquiries and ensure timely submission of requested documents.
- Maintaining Financial Systems
- Manage accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and update system settings to reflect current business needs.
- Implement and improve accounting processes and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in finance, accounting, or financial analysis; experience with corporate finance, budgeting, and financial reporting is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
- Strong analytical skills with a knack for creating detailed financial models and forecasts.
