CMS Construction Management Services is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Rexton, NB. This hands-on role will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting functions for several smaller companies, each with around 15 to 30 employees. You will work closely with a bookkeeper and report directly to senior management.

Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency to qualify.

Key Responsibilities

Perform and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and preparation of financial statements.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax reports and compliance documents.
Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with external auditors and assist in audit preparation.
Supervise and provide guidance to the bookkeeper, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all financial data.
Assist with cash flow management, including monitoring bank accounts and coordinating with management on financial planning.
Maintain a hands-on approach to daily operations, working directly with financial data and transaction processing.
Participate in strategic planning and provide financial insights to support business growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with experience in a similar role preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
