SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our firm at our beautiful Canmore, Alberta office. This role involves collaborating with small to mid-size businesses across various industries. In addition to providing standard accounting and tax services, Ascend adopts a personalized advisory approach to assist clients in reaching their goals.

Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Prepare/review assignments including Audit, Review, Compilation, corporate tax, personal tax, estate, and business planning and other compliance, and accounting work
- Prepare financial statements and other client deliverables such as management letters, tax planning analysis and other information as required.
- Interacting with clients and other team members
- Assisting Managers and team members in all aspects of tax initiatives
- Assisting in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies for various clients
- Keep up to date on the content and practical applications of tax, accounting, and assurance standards, and know how to access and research professional and technical material
Qualifications and Experience
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent
- 3+ years experience in public practice accounting firm
- Advisory or consulting experience
- Caseware/Caseview, Jazzit, Keystone, Excel, Profile (Personal, corporate, forms and trusts)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Quickbooks
- Canadian tax knowledge – personal, corporate, and trust
- Knowledge and practical experience in Canadian GAAPs – ASPE and ASNFPO
- Ability to mentor, coach and develop junior staff
