We are seeking a qualified accountant to oversee all accounting functions including financial reporting. You will handle all day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities and will prepare, examine and analyze all accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Create order and organization within the accounting function, encouraging an environment of continuous improvement
- Implement best practices throughout all aspects of the accounting function
- Pay any debt including supplier invoices in a timely manner
- Issue invoices to customers
- Collect sales tax from customers and remit them to the government
- Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
- Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of every bank account
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy
- Maintain the petty cash fund
- Issue financial statements
- Provide information to the accountant who creates the financial statements
- Assemble information for audit purposes
- Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Calculate variances from the budget and report all issues to management
- Comply with all government reporting requirements
- Process payroll
- Provide any required clerical and administrative support as needed
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude and dedication
- Proven bookkeepers experience, solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience
- Previous experience with Sage Accounting
- Ability to meet all deadlines
- Regular and on time attendance
- Demonstrated good rapport with fellow employees, customers, sub-contractors, vendors and management
