We are looking for a
Jr Accountant to join our team at SourcDirect. As SourceDirect expands to provide bookkeeping and accounting services, this role will be reporting to the CEO and play a critical role in helping our SMB customers file corporate taxes and keep their books up to date. They will help maintain financial records, ensure compliance with regulations, and support key accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. It is important that this individual will be client facing and also be able to help with internal accounting as well beyond just client work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain client's financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial statements.
- Prepare financial reports and statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with budget preparation and forecasting to ensure accurate financial planning.
- Handle payroll processing and work with the HR department to manage employee compensation.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax filing for both corporate T2, T5, schedule 1, 8 and others as needed, GST/HST/ and personal.
- Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits and other financial reviews.
- Support payroll system setup (QuickBooks or other) and ensure accuracy in payroll administration.
- Handle basic reporting to government agencies and assist clients in obtaining necessary payroll numbers from CRA when applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in payroll setup and basic HR-related accounting.
- Familiarity with small business accounting and working with SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises).
