GFL is looking for an Accounts Payable Associate to join our team out of our Vaughan Corporate office! The Accounts Payable Associate will primarily be responsible for processing vendor invoices and having them coded and submitted into our ETS system for appropriate approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Process a high volume of PO and Non PO invoices
- Complete month end AP close in a timely manner
- Perform customer service functions by answering employee and vendor requests and questions via email and/or phone
- Review invoice batches for posting
- Validate invoices against purchase orders or approval workflow for payment processing
- Ensure that tax amounts are accurate and reflect what has been charged by the vendor
- Check if the invoice has been already processed to eliminate duplicate postings
- Resolve discrepancies accordingly with vendor or internal business partners
- Perform periodic invoice entries in the system as required
- Perform ad-hoc customer service functions by answering employee and vendor requests and questions via email and/or phone
- Make photocopies, fax and scan documents and perform other clerical functions
- Where necessary, assist in compiling data for various reports
- Ensure all forms and reports are completed as needed
- Liaise with other departments, branch personnel and vendors via email and phone dealing with inquiries, errors and issues as required
- Review new vendor management requests and set ups to ensure that GST has been validated and payment method is set up appropriately
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Competencies
- 1-3 years of accounting experience specific to full cycle Accounts Payable
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in all areas of work
- Able to work well under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced work environment
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse work environment as part of a team as well as independently
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to use general office equipment and familiar with accounting software
- Experience with Workday, AP workflow solution and Great Plains is an asset
