Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for overseeing accounts payable duties including and not limited to managing vendor invoices and POs within vendor limits, establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors, all while ensuring bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures for both BRC and Tayco. The Accounts Payable Specialist will also be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager with other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Taking care of Accounts Payable (AP) invoices for BRC, including the following responsibilities:
- Receiving invoices, reviewing invoices, and determining and gaining appropriate levels of approval for the invoices
- As part of the invoice cycle, making entries into the Syspro and 2020 system for freight verifications
- Professionally coordinating with Vendors and answering/ replying to their inquiries and requests within a timely fashion.
- Careful undertaking of investigations of any missed items and invoices during the information gathering process with Vendors.
- Reconciling and reviewing vendor statements against BRC records
- Verifying information from the 2020 system (ie: reconciliation of certain invoices matching to their POs, verification of payment receipt, coordinating with IT to verify and resolve invoice discrepancies for invoice processing, etc.)
- Managing 3-way or 2-way matches, managing shipping documents and BOLs when processing certain invoices
- Maintaining AP housekeeping items, including monthly invoice entries
- Handling daily cash/cheque deposits as needed
- Wiring e-transfer funds online as needed
- Gaining all necessary approvals and storing them in an online Directory
- Receiving, collecting scanning, and filing invoices in addition to managing the daily mail for the accounting department
- Supporting the Accounting Manager with any AP requests required
- Updating and maintaining vendor information on Syspro
- Travel may be required to complete Bank runs, when needed
- Travel required between branch offices of The BRC Group of Companies
Requirements
QUALIFICATION

- Post Secondary Education in the appropriate Finance and/or Accounting program and 2 years work experience in accounts payable, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Intermediate knowledge and experience of MS Office suite
- Intermediate knowledge and experience with SysPro is an asset.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Excellent communication and coordinating experience with multiple departments
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Good attention to detail to identify discrepancies and track task duplications (ie: Able to ensure that any credit card payments are not being duplicated via direct deposit)
- Self-starter with the ability to deliver results and work independently.

- SALARY OFFERED - $50,000 to $55,000 ANNUALLY
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.
- Work on site at the Company as many days as required
- Some Travel will be required
- Hours of Work: Day Shift (8 hours): 8:30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
