Payroll and HR Coordinator (Contract)

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator will ensure employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with internal policies, legislative requirements and the applicable collective agreements. This includes maintaining various payroll data systems. The Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator will also support the HR function with administrative activities within the business while acting as a main point of contact for employees.
- Regular working hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

The Role
Verify and process confidential payroll for hourly and salaried employees within strict time frames dictated by the banking/payroll system. Includes data entry and maintenance of various systems: payroll, union dues, and time & attendance systems.
Provide general HR related information and policy interpretation to employees, and highlight potential issues to manager for follow-up.
Providing payroll back-up coverage for the Payroll specialist for the Ontario Catalent sites.
Support recruitment processes for promotions, transfers and terminations in partnership with the Recruitment/Talent Acquisition team andfFacilitate Orientation and occasional training.
HR analytics, metrics, reporting and data analysis.
Support the claims management process for Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD) and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), including accommodation and safe & early return to work in partnership with the Health and Safety team.
Support reviewing and managing benefit billing statements for processing with finance and backup support submitting required deduction payments for Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA), Pension, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) and maintain confidentiality of Payroll and HR information. Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

The Candidate
High school diploma required. Diploma in Payroll Administration or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration is an asset.
Human Resources diploma and/or certificate is preferred.
National Payroll Institute PCP Designation or progress towards is considered an asset.
Minimum 1 years of work experience in a payroll/benefit administrator role.
Experience in Human Resources role preferred.
Experience and familiarity with pharmaceutical, manufacturing and/or GMP facilities is an asset.
Working knowledge of payroll software and an HRIS system. (preferably ADP and Workday)
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting concepts.
Experience working in a unionized environment and interpreting collective agreements.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products. (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Compliance to ESA and Payroll legislation.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and strong analytical ability required.
Strong teamworking skills and ability to work within the HR team to collaborate on shared responsibilities.
Must enjoy a fast paced, structured environment and be process oriented
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.

Use of manual dexterity is required.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
