Position Overview
Responsible for the accurate and timely data input into the City's computerized general ledger including journal entries and cash receipts. Downloads Daily Item Trace Report and processes weekly payroll bank transfers and payment of payroll expenses. Prepares donation receipts for all donations to the City and maintains an annual control sheet as stipulated by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Assists with preparing the annual Provincial Financial Information Return, and year-end audit binder. Responsible for monthly and year-end analysis and reconciliation of key general ledger accounts. Assists with the examination of supporting backup documentation for weekly accounts payable cheque runs. Maintains and monitors the City's cash receipts system.

Qualifications and Experience
• Successful completion of a two (2) year Community College Diploma in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration or suitable equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years progressively more responsible general accounting experience in a municipal environment
• Ability to perform well under tight timeframes and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, problem solving and communications skills (oral and written).
• Working knowledge of information technology and computerized accounting systems, including proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with the public and staff.
• Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the city's core competencies and relevant functional competencies.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours as required and in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
