XYON was founded by world leading hair restoration surgeon Dr Victor Hasson, together with our CEO, Dr Simon Pimstone, a highly regarded LiveScience founder and entrepreneur.
We are seeking a VP, Finance & Administration to join our team at an exciting stage. Reporting into the CEO you will be joining seasoned experts in a high growth Canadian private corporation with a growing North American presence. This is a permanent full-time, mixed office-and home-based position.
As the Vice-President/Senior Vice President, Finance & Administration, you will oversee several critical functional areas, including Finance, Human Resources, Facilities Management, Information & Technology Services, and Investor Relations. Your leadership will be instrumental in providing strategic direction, ensuring financial stewardship, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration across administrative departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s long-term goals.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
Financial Management:
- Ensure robust financial management systems and controls are in place.
- Manage the company’s financial performance, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow management.
- Oversee accounting, tax, and financial reporting functions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Business Partnering:
- Partner with business units to drive financial performance and achieve growth targets.
- Support project teams with financial insights and analysis to enhance decision-making.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop pricing strategies and optimize revenue models.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, including market, operational, and credit risks.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Ensure the company’s assets are safeguarded through appropriate insurance and risk mitigation strategies.
Human Resources:
Oversee all HR processes including the HRIS, performance management, recruitment, talent retention, policies and compensation strategies, onboarding, and culture committee.
Investor Relations:
- Manage relationships with investors, banks, and other financial stakeholders.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors and investors.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including equity and debt financing, to support growth initiatives.
Digital Transformation:
- Ensure the growth of our digital e-comm platform, while meeting regulatory requirements.
- Drive the adoption of digital tools and technologies to enhance processes and reporting.
- Leverage data analytics to improve financial decision-making and business insights.
- Oversee the creation of a scalable IT infrastructure to support growth and expansion opportunities.
Team Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing finance & admin team, including Accounting, FP&A, Legal, HR, and IT.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the company.
- Mentor and develop staff to ensure succession planning and talent retention.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in Business or Accounting.
- Designated CPA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, with similar finance role.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- ERP experience within a manufacturing framework preferred. Microsoft Business Central experience considered an asset.
- Financing/fundraising experience in private or VC markets considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ASPE/US GAAP knowledge.
- Experience with financial management, budgeting and variance reporting.
- Working in a retail and preferably digital retail environment would be preferable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Skills and experience in building a team.
- Skills and experience in managing partners and vendors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to display initiative and sound judgement.
