Position: Accountant
Purpose: Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, our Accountant manages the financial reporting requirements, budgeting and the associated record keeping. The accountant will also put their analytical and continuous improvement drive into action by identifying opportunities to enhance our processes to gain efficiencies and automate the same where feasible. This position will also assist with optimization and ERP migration, and provide support to other broad projects. During vacation, our Accountant will also provide Payroll processing, as back up.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Month-end closing activities, reconciliation and analysis of GL accounts.
· Quarterly balance sheet analysis.
· FX daily hedging.
· Plans and implements the preparation of the annual budget.
· Maintains MRO reporting, related analysis and adjustments.
· Assists with the physical verification of MRO, BOM, and Buy/Sell inventory, and prepares annual Std Cost Roll.
· Plays an integral role in identifying optimization solutions.
· Assisting with ERP migration.
· Assists with the annual metal inventory count.
· Maintains fixed asset ledger and related analysis and adjustments as well as performing physical verification of assets.
· Maintains capital project details and reporting.
· Prepares customer volume rebate calculations and analysis.
· Prepares and maintains the calculation of safety ‘injury rate’.
· Responsible for accounting and accounting-related administrative functions of the Profit-Sharing Retirement Plan (PSRP).
· Chairperson of PSRP Committee.
· Accountant provides back up support to the Payroll Administrator.
· Maintains group insurance employee benefits, analysis and journal entries.
· Completes and files HST returns.
· Custodian of petty cash.
· Maintains documented operating procedures and ensure SOX compliance.
· Implements or assists in the timely dispatch of the Company’s year-end internal and external audits, pension audits, income tax return, and other filing and reporting obligations.
· Models and adheres to safe work practices and policies.
· Contributes positively and collaboratively with the finance team and broader team of GLC employees as necessary.
· Performs other tasks as assigned.
You Bring:
● Accounting designation , or approaching readiness to complete final exams
● At least 4 years’ experience in an Accountant / IT role with at least 3 years of
progressive accounting and finance experience
● IT savvy, ideally with optimization experience
● Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is ideal
● A demonstrated curiosity and thirst to bring about improvements
● Advanced level of Excel skills
● Experience working with a MRP system.
● Understanding of FX and metal hedging.
● Proven analytical ability and ability to learn quickly
● Demonstrated ability to identify improvements and support change, including
automation of functions
● Seasoned communication skills (Verbal, written and listening)
● A collaborative team-player mindset with a tactful and positive demeanor
● Ability to manage a heavy workload and meet deadlines
● Supervision experience is as asset but not required.
● Demonstrated adaptability, willingness to adjust priorities and discretion
● Payroll experience (preferred)
● Previous experience assisting with ERP migration .
