We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper on a contract basis to assist with financial tasks and ensure the smooth running of day-to-day accounting operations.
Job Description:
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. This role requires expertise in handling accounting software, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate should be organized, deadline-driven, and capable of working independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update accurate financial records, including day-to-day transactions, invoices, and payments.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and invoices.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with payroll processing and ensure accuracy in payroll records.
- Track and record expenses, ensuring they align with the budget.
- Prepare tax documentation and assist with year-end financial audits.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are posted accurately.
- Handle other bookkeeping duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role (minimum 3 years of experience).
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, Xero).
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements is an asset.
- Certification in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred but not required.
Contract Details:
- Duration: Full-time, Permanent.
- Compensation: $21 to 24 per hour
- Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Location: In-Office Winnipeg MB.
