Job Summary
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 533 Byron Springbank is a not-for- profit organization whose primary purpose is to serve Veterans and our community. We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. Must work at the Branch office twice a week a minimum of 5 hours each day. Other duties can be performed remotely.
Duties
- Manage all aspects of the company's financial transactions
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and records
- Process accounts payable and receivable
- Conduct account reconciliations
- Create bi-weekly payroll and bi-weekly/monthly contract payments
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks
-Maintain a detailed filing system of all accounting documents
-Attend and present financial statements at monthly Executive and General meetings as required
-Co-ordinate year end annual audits and prepare information and financial records for annual branch inspections
Note: Police background check will be required if selected for this position
Skills
- Proficiency in budgeting and basic accounting principles
- Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks and MS Office Software
-Experience with POS systems an asset
- Knowledge of accounts receivable and account reconciliation procedures
- Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes
- Previous experience as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk is required
