About Us:
Southside Group is a well-established corporation in London’s construction and real estate sector, specializing in residential and commercial developments. We are in search for a Director of Finance to help drive our corporation to the future.
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the President and Vice president of the company, the Director of Finance will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations, providing strategic insights, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, with a strong understanding of industry-specific accounting practices and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements, including project-specific reports, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, accounting standards, and internal financial controls.
- Government Remittance and Payroll: Review HST returns, bi-weekly payroll and ensure source deduction and other government remittance payments are made on time, prepare annual T4 and other annual reports/remittances.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flows for the group of companies.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting their professional growth.
- Process Improvement: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in financial management within the construction or real estate industry, with a deep understanding of project accounting and financial management practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage 300 and ADP required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior management
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing finance teams.
