Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller (Brampton), the Financial Accountant is accountable for analysis of the Financial Statements for two plants and the consolidated results- Brampton and North York
This role is a critical member of a five-person team driving continuous improvement across both financial as well as operational reporting. Excellence in routine processing/ reporting will support value-added business partnership with the plant manager and operational leadership team.
Working closely with the Controller and Corporate Finance, the Financial Accountant will ensure the accuracy of the financial statement close process, performance of internal controls (including account reconciliations), analysis and timely, insightful, action-oriented variance reporting and overall leading-edge financial support.

Key Accountabilities:
- Consolidation of financials between Brampton and North York plants(Scarborough),ensuring financials accurately represented.
- Provide analysis and commentary to financial results (target audience includes Corporate Finance and Plant Operations).
- Preparation and analysis of key operational and financial reports as part of monthly packages.
- Identify opportunities to improve/expand plant reporting to enable better business decisions.
- Identify and develop tools/reports to assist plant supervision in the management of their business units.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations including those relating to capital assets, trade spend accruals, prepaid expenses, AP accruals, intercompany and cash(bank).
- Performance of financial controls to ensure accuracy of financials
- Prepare ad hoc analysis as required by sales, plant manager, business performance and other departments.
Requirements:
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is preferred.
- Minimum five years of accounting, analysis and financial reporting experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry an asset);
- Strong interpersonal skills partnered with the ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the organization;
- Excellent time management skills, strong communication, conflict resolution and analytical skills;
- Strong financial systems and master data governance experience.
- Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook); expert Excel skills.
