We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant - Corporate Finance to join a fast-growing real estate investment firm based in Vaughan, ON. What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will take ownership of key accounting functions, with a primary focus on the month-end close process and fund accounting for the company’s real estate investment funds. You will collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. As the company grows, you will have opportunities to contribute to broader corporate finance initiatives while expanding your expertise in fund accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Close: Perform month-end close procedures, including reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, inter-company transactions, and other key financial accounts.
- Fund Accounting: Assist with fund accounting activities, including the preparation of financial statements for multi-family investment funds, ensuring accuracy in portfolio performance and fund-level reporting.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for senior management, providing detailed analysis of monthly variances and key performance metrics.
- Audit & Tax Support: Assist with year-end audit processes, providing relevant documentation and support for external auditors. Help prepare and file HST returns, manage payroll remittances, and assist with tax filings.
- Collaborative Projects: Work closely with management and cross-functional teams on various financial projects, contributing to process improvements and helping ensure compliance with accounting standards.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Currently pursuing your CPA designation or equivalent.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in asset management, public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier), or real estate.
- Fund accounting knowledge is an asset, particularly with multi-family investment funds.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with real estate software (Yardi or similar) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, a problem-solving mindset, and a collaborative, service-driven attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across the organization.
