We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Accountant to assist with key projects, yearly audits, R&D compilation, physical count monitoring, and preparation of financial statements for a key site.
The ideal candidate will improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management. This role will also be responsible for the annual, quarterly, and monthly reporting, as well as managing the execution of the operational budget.
The candidate must be available to travel 20-25% of their monthly time to the Eastern Townships or to Montreal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full Accounting Cycle: Manage the full accounting cycle (excluding AP, AR, and Payroll) for a major Canadian manufacturing site with operations in multiple currencies.
- Financial Statement Preparation and Analysis:
- Intercompany accounting in multiple currencies.
- Fixed and intangible asset management.
- Preparation and maintenance of all balance sheet and/or other pertinent schedules.
- Responsible for year-end audit.
- Budget preparation and analysis
- US Sales Tax Management and Payments: Handle US sales tax management and payments, and SRXP (expense report system) management.
- Project Cost Monitoring: Monitor project costs and handle related grants and SR&ED claims for all Canadian sites.
- Inventory Management: Oversee cycle count monitoring, weighted average monthly adjustments and review, and annual physical count oversight.
- Gross Margin, BOM, and Costing Analysis: Conduct gross margin, BOM, and costing analysis, monitoring, and recommendations.
- Assist in Key Company Projects: Provide assistance in the management of key company projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with intercompany accounting in multiple currencies.
- Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Knowledge of US sales tax management and SRXP system.
- Proven experience in project cost monitoring and grant management.
- Proficiency in inventory management and gross margin analysis.
- Excellent bilingual communication ( English and French)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Available to travel 20-25% of monthly time to the Eastern Townships or Montreal
