Minimum Requirements:
Eight years of experience in finance within the energy industry in complex accounting, research or financial reporting
A bachelor’s degree with a major in finance, accounting, or a related discipline
A recognized accounting designation (CPA) with experience in IFRS 16 or ASC 842; Experience in various other areas of IFRS or GAAP is also preferential
Excellent proven analytical, social and communication skills, displaying a high level of professionalism, intellect and drive
Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills
The ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic team-based environment that deliver critical results within fixed reporting deadlines
Dedicated problem solver with the ability to provide multiple options and to recommend appropriate solutions
An unwavering continuous improvement mindset
Knowledge of: SAP S/4, Profit Centre Accounting, Consolidation Reporting is preferential
Responsibilities:
Support the overall Lease reviews and accounting process. Work closely with multiple business and finance stakeholders and the Capital Asset & Lease Accounting group to ensure timely and accurate accounting results for Lease transactions.
Work with Business Units and other functions within the company on lease transactions and perform research; evaluate and document recommended accounting treatment
Provide ongoing advice on complex lease matters in collaboration with the Capital Asset and Lease Accounting Analyst, and interpretation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal accounting policies
Participate in various Finance and cross-functional projects and initiatives across the organization including lease business process improvements
Ensure consistent performance and documentation of SOX controls
Support the quarterly and annual Capital Asset and Lease external reporting processes, as well the business planning processes
Provide continuous training and education to company-wide stakeholders around technical lease concepts and identification

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
