Responsibilities
As our new manager your primary responsibility will be to manage our client base by evaluating their current financial situation and business results, while helping to ensure the accuracy of their financial data. You will review and oversee staff accountants’ work including compilations, review engagements and tax returns. The review process includes the analysis and correcting of discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries and reports. The role also includes the management of clients, the direction of workflow to meet deadlines and client expectations and mentoring and supporting the professional development needs of staff accountants and others within the organization.
As part of our team, you will contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes. You will assist with various services such as corporate and personal tax planning, review and preparation. On behalf of our clients, you will liaise with financial institutions and government agencies.
Working at Olsen Joly LLP
This is a full time, permanent position, salary commensurate with experience. Office hours are Monday to Friday, with extended work hours during peak tax season (February - April).
We will cover your annual dues, as well as the cost of your professional development courses.
Our bright and modern office is located in Red Deer County, where you will enjoy an open-door policy working from your own office, allowing you to easily interact with our professional and friendly team.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 3 years post-designation experience working in a public practice firm
- Extensive knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) is an asset
- Canadian income tax knowledge is a must
- Experience working directly with clients or in a client-facing role
- Proficiency with software such as CaseWare, Taxprep, Excel and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Experience working in a multi-faceted role with varying tasks and responsibilities

- Independent – you proactively take on work and can complete your tasks with minimal supervision.
- Knowledgeable - you have a solid foundation in accounting as well as the laws and standards governing the industry.
- Willing to learn - you have a continuous desire to grow and learn through professional development courses, reading relevant industry-related content, listening to podcasts, learning new technology and software or just helping clients.
- Detail orientated – you are particular about order, process, deadlines and organization. If processes are not followed, or accounts don’t balance, you dig deeper to find out why and fix it.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
