Our team is looking to add Junior Accountant to our group of inspired and dedicated professionals who are driven to add massive value to our clients. A Junior Accountant is the entry level position on the Gauvreau accounting team. They are responsible for the preparation of compilation and review engagement working paper files and the completion of corporate tax returns under the guidance of senior colleagues.
Work experience
- A minimum of 12 months experience performing public accounting services within a public accounting firm (preferred).
Required skills
- Working knowledge of Karbon, Outlook, and other internal systems
- Working knowledge of QBO, CaseWare, and TaxPrep
- Ability to work independently, and take ownership of work quality and timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job description
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile banking transactions
- Produce accounting reports and financial statements
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with the applicable accounting standards
- Prepare corporate tax returns, and personal tax returns as required
- Correspond with CRA and government agencies when required to address client files
- Review, organize and reconcile incoming documents from clients for completing tasks, such as bank/credit card statements, and receipts for capital assets
- Collect and analyze financial information provided by clients and/or internal teams
- Collaborate with other internal teams to ensure accuracy and timely completion of files
- Attend and participate in a weekly team strategy/accountability meeting
An ideal candidate has more than 12 months experience working with a public accounting firm and is a registered CPA student working towards their CPA designation.
