We are a small business focused firm, providing accounting, bookkeeping and tax services to small and medium sized businesses Canada wide. We are located in Dawson Creek, BC and leverage technology to provide services virtually to clients nationwide. We are looking for a senior tax accountant who is the right fit to join us, ideally looking for a local person able to commute to the office daily.

- Chartered Professional Accountant, CPA
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience in public accounting practice with direct extensive experience preparing year end procedures and ability to review work prepared by junior staff.
- Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles.
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Tax Cycle, Sage and Quickbooks Online/Desktop and ability to guide staff and clients to resolve bookkeeping issues both within the programs and accounting transactions.
- Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint programs.
- Strong listening, verbal and professional English writing skills; a helpful and friendly attitude will be expected when dealing with customers and other professionals on the phone, in writing and in person.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to stay focused and grasp concepts quickly.
- Able to work electronically in a paperless environment and communicate with remote co-workers while independently and reasonably searching for solutions before asking questions.
- Must encompass time management skills with the ability to prioritize assignments in addition to the ability to handle a demanding workload while managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines and be able to direct and coach others.
- Accountable to work consistent hours
- Strong understanding of math and conceptual logic.
Required tasks would include:
- Prepare and review work, including knowledge of the necessary steps to complete compilation reports on own without guidance that meet Canadian CPA engagement standards for reporting
- Tax preparation for corporate, personal and trusts
- Work with variety of bookkeeping software to perform engagements and assist clients
- Compute taxes owed and prepare/review personal and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards
- Experience in reviewing DOD and T3 will be beneficial
- Oversee and review year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)
- Respond to client questions and queries
- Raise identified technical issues
- Keep on top of and report the progress of engagements
- Oversee and review bank and other account reconciliations
- Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
- Develop and maintain relationships with client management
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
