We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations across our diverse portfolio of businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Organize and maintain accurate financial records for all companies.
Prepare financial statements and reports.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Payroll Management:
Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
Manage payroll records and related documentation.
Handle employee tax withholdings and benefits administration.
Tax Compliance:
Communicate with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regarding tax matters.
Prepare and file corporate tax returns.
Ensure timely payment of taxes and adherence to tax laws.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and budgets.
Identify and address any cash flow issues.
Vendor and Payment Management:
Create purchase orders (POs) and schedule vendor payments.
Send and deposit cheques as required.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Accounts Receivable and Payable:
Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments.
Handle accounts payable, including invoice verification and payment processing.
Maintain accurate records of all transactions.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
Assist in financial planning and budgeting processes.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation or equivalent is preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-company environment.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and payroll processes.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
