Overview:
ExamWorks Canada is seeking a bilingual (French and English) Human Resource Business Partner to join the team!
This will be a remote position with some travel required for office visits and onsite meetings.
The Human Resources Director is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in all business units across Canada. This position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues and assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. The successful HR Director acts as an employee champion and change agent by cultivating partnerships across the Company to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects business objectives. This role partners with leaders at all levels regarding day-to-day employee performance and relations issues and fosters a positive employee experience. The HR Director seeks to develop integrated solutions and strives to identify and communicate organizational needs proactively with HR and business leaders. The HR Director maintains a working knowledge of the business’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition in order to aid in achieving short- and long-term organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and minimum 8 years of experience in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Fluent in both English and French is required
- Knowledge and experience with employment-related provincial laws and regulations, including but not limited to British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec
- CPHR and/or CRHA/CRIA Certifications preferred
- Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management and employment laws and regulations as they apply and differ across provinces.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and apply employment laws and practices, and wage and hour matters, and translate them into understandable terms.
- Ability to resolve complex employee relations issues timely and within the best interests of all partied involved.
- Uses good sound judgment and includes the appropriate people in the decision-making process.
- Must be proficient in multiple software programs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet.
- Ability to provide appropriate support to individuals at all levels of the organization, from senior leadership to entry-level employees.
- Ability to collect and research internal and external data to analyze complex or diverse information.
- Uses intuition and experience to recommend and/or design procedures and process solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Conducts regular meetings with business leaders and partners with managers to identify their human capital requirements and support business change efforts, initiating and facilitating change initiatives and supporting business improvements in line with strategy.
- Regularly consults with management providing HR guidance and objective feedback when appropriate, utilizing the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to the management or general business operations as they relate to employee relations and people-related items.
- Analyzes Human Resources key trends and metrics in partnership with HR leadership to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements across provinces, including Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
- Acts as liaison between the HR department and French-speaking employees for all matters related to employment, including payroll and benefits.
- Provides guidance and decision support on business unit restructuring, workforce planning, succession planning, and merger and acquisition planning and integration.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Serves as a change management champion to guide and support employees and business leaders during changes that may arise from time to time related to business structures, Company systems, and other business-related matters.
- Works closely with management and employees to increase productivity, improve workplace relationships, build morale, and retain talent within budgetary guidelines and timeframes.
- Provides HR policy guidance, interpretation and appropriate fulfillment of HR administration and labour regulation requirements for all Canadian business units.
- Help managers create employment terms for new hires, promotions and inter-company transfers ensuring alignment with corporate structures.
- Identifies training needs for business units and individual coaching needs and development.
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Serves as a subject matter expert by answering HR-related questions and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Performs miscellaneous duties or drives special projects as requested by upper management.
- This position may supervise or share supervisory responsibilities for one or more Human Resources staff members, and also serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the Company.
