Your Impact at CNIB
- Ensuring that general ledger reconciliations are completed within policy compliance, that reconciling items are assessed for both potential exposure and their underlying root cause, and any anomalies are corrected
- Reviewing and monitoring the financial activities of all entities, which includes programs/services and/or contracts
- Providing detailed monthly variance analysis reports to management, preparing financial reports for various projects to ensure effectiveness, and assisting in monitoring revenues and expenditures
- Coordinating, planning, and collecting data to assist in the preparation of annual operational and capital budgets and forecasts for all programs.
- Co-ordinating between financial reporting and financial transaction processing teams on day-to-day activities in all areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable/invoicing/purchase orders, bank deposits, purchase cards and petty cash. Additionally, monitoring any local bank accounts in the districts, assisting with month/year end responsibilities and any other ad hoc duties that arise
- Ensuring through time management and supportive team spirit that the financial objectives of the operational and administrative teams are met
- Answering accounting related queries, resolving problems and issues promptly
- Providing support with reporting on a regular basis and support with internal and year-end external audit deliverables as requested
- Willing to travel to any other CNIB office, participating in special projects and other related tasks as required
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a budget analyst, financial analyst, business accountant, or a similar role
- Strong Accounting fundamentals, with a working knowledge of GAAP and non-for-profit Accounting Standards
- Solid understanding of the relationship of internal controls and business processes with financial statements and financial statement commentary
- Working knowledge of HST, GST, & QST/PST and its application to charities operating in the charitable sector is an asset
- Excellent systems experience including proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level with working knowledge of advanced formulas, Lookups, Pivot Tables), Word, and PowerPoint. Good working knowledge of general ledger, fixed assets, and accounts payable systems
- Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite, SAP Concur, and QuickBooks is an asset
- Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills.
- Sets high standards for results and continually raises these standards

- Demonstrates high standards of conduct which are not compromised even under highly stressful circumstances
- Have a proven track record of successful multitasking and providing accurate and timely results
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with internal and external stakeholders, while managing expectations
- Takes initiative to keep abreast of updates to accounting standards and issues related to finance operations in general
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
