Based in Toronto, the General Accountant is part of the Finance team and will support the growth of a successful, fast-paced, and progressive organization. The General Accountant will report to the Financial Controller.
What you should expect:
- Examine and analyze day-to-day full-cycle accounting: journal and ledger entries, inventories, prepaid, Fixed Assets, expenditures, tax returns and other accounting and financial records and documents
- Perform monthly CAD and USD bank reconciliation and foreign exchange rate management
- Ensure month-end adjusting entries are posted on time
- Conduct monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation. Prepare adjusting entries, when necessary, ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
- Maintain cost finding, reporting and internal control procedures
- Verify Corporate credit card transactions, administer Expenses Management program, and conduct credit card monthly reconciliation
- Manage member’s program and items creation and setup
- Experience in AP and AR processes, be a Backup for team members on AP, AR and inventory management, and member sales reports
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as needed
- Assist with annual corporate audit preparation
- Work closely with other departments and staff members
What you should bring:
- University degree in accounting is required and an accredited professional accounting designation is preferable
- Minimum 3 years of broad and progressively responsible experience in accounting function
- Excellent experience in Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus and various accounting software
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
