JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of New Graduate, FInance Controllership.
Reporting to the Finance Controller, this position is responsible for ensuring OPG’s compliance with accounting standards and will bring in-depth and wide-ranging knowledge of financial management systems, programs, and practices.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provides management reports utilizing financial systems and other inputs and assists clients in interpretation of financial and operational results to enable decision making
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with key stakeholders to support operations, major projects and forecasting. Acts as a specific point of contact (SPOC) to clients.
- Analyzes Operating, Maintenance & Administrative (OM&A) costs, capital expenditures and budgets and forecasts to enable decision making.
- Assists in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines through research, analysis and input from stakeholders. Support related training, if required. in the area of general accounting practices.
- Ensures the integrity of the decision support process through support for the preparation and review of business case summaries.
- Gives assistance to systems users on issues related to the scope of management system development, operation, and maintenance.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual period end journal entries and financial reporting for major projects, programs and accounts in the support of in-service forecast and budget within assigned area of responsibility.
- Participates in the development and implementation of financial information systems and procedures.
- Reviews accounting practices and provides a due diligence assessment as to the accuracy, consistency and appropriateness of analysis and conclusions being reached.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-year university degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, and/or equivalent experience
- Working towards or has completed CPA, CFA or MBA designation.
- Graduated anytime between 2022 up to and including Spring 2024; must have less than 2-years of relevant work experience
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to quickly understand business processes, navigate organization
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Power BI knowledge is an asset.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
