Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions

Set-up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and complete administrative planning

Perform the month-end and quarter-end close processes

Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities

Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers and co-workers to develop resolutions

Communicate with the government regarding information requests, assessments and installments

Accounting certificate or bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is considered an asset)

Entry level to 2 years of relevant accounting experience

Experience preparing T4s and T5s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred

Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes is considered an asset

Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset, Profile, SAGE and Quickbooks Desktop, and Quickbooks Online

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Highly developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Maintain a professional demeanor at all times

Ability to effectively handle multiple, conflicting priorities

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with other management team members

Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality

Ability to track and report various activities

This individual must be able to interact with staff and clients (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00-$59,651.00 per year

Schedule:

8 hour shift
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed

Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

QuickBooks: 1 year (preferred)
bookkeeping: 2 years (required)
