Our primary products out of this location are Wound Distributed Gap Cores, Mitre and Butt Lap Laminations, Logs and Fully Assembled Cores in our Flat Stack Department, Steel Sales, Custom Slitting and a warehousing for Tempel Steel’s laminations.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous, organized, and driven Payroll Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will oversee payroll processes, ensuring accurate employee compensation and adherence to relevant regulations. As a committed team member, you are eager to learn and improve continuously. You are self-motivated, responsible, and capable of working efficiently with minimal supervision. You excel at meeting deadlines and completing tasks on time.
This position demands strong analytical skills and accounting proficiency to optimize payroll operations. The ideal candidate will show genuine interest and dedication in addressing all inquiries proficiently.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
- Accurately administer weekly hourly payroll (185) and monthly salaried payroll (40), ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and providing payroll information to employees, management, and government agencies.
- Reconciliation of employee hours from the ADP Time and Attendance System with the ADP WorkForce Now.
- Timely transmission of payroll data to ADP, ensuring prompt payment of wages through direct deposit or pay cheques.
- Diplomatically deal with payroll problems and develop new strategies to continuously improve efficiencies.
- Review benefit insurance premiums, compare to billing to ensure employee payroll deductions are accurate, and reconcile GL account.
- Track outstanding payroll deductions and ensure collection
- Track employee events, etc. to determine taxable benefits & process when required.
- Update of the Employee Master File, Time Clock System, and HRIS to ensure accurate employee records.
- Completion of employee employment letters, Record of Employment, and assistance with other documentation as requested including external requests for employee information.
- Monitor, process & send Finance Department tax, EHT & WSIB remittance on a timely basis.
- Balance payroll accounts monthly.
- Correspond in a professional manner to management, employees and outside agencies
- Annual analysis of all taxes paid, WSIB and Employers' Health Tax, complete year-end reporting requirements
- Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless payroll processes.
- Complete year-end processes, including tax form preparation and distribution (T4, T4A, and T2200 forms).
Required Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma with an excellent aptitude for numbers
- Accounting background
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation
- Proficiency in software including ADP Workforce Now, ADP Time Management, Oracle Fusion HCM (Human Capital Management) is highly desirable
- Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum 5 years payroll experience
- Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with employees at all levels of the organization
