We are currently looking for a motivated and rigorous individual to join our team in Vaudreuil-Dorion as

Reporting to the Tax & Accounting Manager and working with the team, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for managing various administrative tasks (audit support, report preparation, sales tax coordination, etc.) within the Tax Department. This includes overseeing indirect taxes in Canada and the USA.

Here are some of the responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk: - Tax Function Leadership:
- Collaborate with the Tax Manager regarding the indirect tax function for US and Canadian operations.
- Oversee accurate and timely filing of US and Canadian sales/use taxes and US business license taxes across all registered states and provinces.
- Compliance and Liability Management:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations for sales/use and business licenses in all states and provinces.
- Determine the corporation's tax liabilities to various taxing authorities.
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual sales tax returns for various states and jurisdictions
- Research and stay updated in sales tax laws and communicate relevant information and changes
- Support audit by providing the right documentation
- Payment and System Maintenance:
- Ensure proper payment of sales/use and business license taxes.
- Maintain and utilize various taxing systems, resolving tax notices promptly.
- Guidance and Transaction Support:
- Provide guidance on tax-related transactions, such as sales to customers and purchases of various items.
- Verify accuracy of general ledger sales tax accrual accounts.
- Customer Tax Handling:
- Handle taxing requirements for all customers, maintaining proper documentation for exempt customers.
- Regularly communicate with the Customer Service team to answer any questions they might have and communicating with the right legal entity (States, Provinces, etc.)
What are the requirements and skills needed?:
- DEC with a focus in business administration, accounting, or a related area of study is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Administration would be considered an asset
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting , sales tax role, or related field
- Strong technical skills and ability to learn new computer systems (e.g. SAP or Oracle/JD Edwards environment)
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate easily on the phone
- Must be fully bilingual with an expert level in English
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially in Excel for handling data and documentation
- Excellent organizational and collaborative skills
- Ability and comfort to work in a routine, repetitive role
- Superior problem solving, ability to investigate and decision-making skills
- Attention to detail, analytical skills and ability to multi-task
