HEALTH AND SAFETY / OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
The Health and Safety Advisor is accountable and responsible to promote, co-ordinate and implement activities to improve and maintain high levels of Safety Performance. In addition, they will act as a resource for employees while advocating on T BELL policies, procedures, and programs. Additionally, the administrator will also assist with daily administrative duties including but not limited to processing paperwork, filing, handling driver inquiries, etc.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for safety orientation, safety training and policy implementations.
Proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates health and safety risks.
Reports, investigates, and documents all safety incidents and injuries appropriately; assist in findings and recommendations to prevent a re-occurrence.
Works closely with General Managers, safety manager and field supervisors and conducts site inspections for sites where T BELL employees are present making recommendations if hazards exist.
Ensures all necessary paperwork and reports are properly documented. Assists projects in meeting their compliance reporting.
Liaise with client safety representatives and government inspectors.
Creates and/or distributes safety Toolbox Talk to supervisors.
Ensures each project has trained Health & safety Representative and/or JHSC members as required.
Good understanding of WSIB claims and coordinates/facilitates the safe return to work program for injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.
Updates and posts site training matrixes where applicable and maintains site records for auditing purposes.
Establishes a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations by staying up to date on changing industry standards, legislation, and best practices.
Coaches and mentors staff as appropriate to improve health and safety performance.
Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
Sorting of driver envelops for time tracking.
Reconciles load tickets with driver documented work for the week.
Submits driver envelops and tickets to head office for tracking and verification for payroll.
Run minor errands for the office.
Other administrative duties as required.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & KNOWLEDGE:
5+ years’ experience in an occupational health and safety role preferably with the natural resources industry.
Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, the Workplace Safety, and Insurance Act, Return to Work, WSIB, Human Rights Code, AODA, and WHMIS
Experience in Occupational Health & Safety Systems Management.
First Aid certification.
Valid class “G” driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Relationship savvy and solid interpersonal skills suitable for a diverse working environment ranging from employees, clients, certification representatives and external government bodies.
Must possess a certain degree of mechanical knowledge.
Computer skills required.
Able to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
Ability to plan and schedule activities including training.
Strong work ethic and a positive team attitude.
The ideal candidate must be highly flexible and adaptable, capable of working within the required time constraints, and able to follow management's direction. They should also contribute to a positive safety culture and assist with administrative functions such as filing, photocopying, and answering the telephone.
