We are a dynamic and growing organization committed to excellence in the Construction industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to join our Mississauga team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for our employees, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for a diverse workforce, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with provincial, federal and local regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of the payroll system, tax laws, and union payroll. This is a hands-on position that requires the candidate to perform all payroll-related functions in the office.
The role and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Payroll processing for weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for employees across Canada, including remittance and filing to Service Canada
- Post Journal Entries in accounting systems
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Maintain and update payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, and benefits
- Strong understanding and knowledge of union payroll, including the collective bargaining agreements, hourly wages, overtime, duties, benefits contributions, vacation, sick leave, and stat holidays
- Update biweekly spreadsheets for Unions, WSIB, EHT, and other services as required
- Answer employee’s payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manager
- Provide reports as required to Upper Management
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of payroll experience
- Solid understanding of full accounting principles and practices
- Experience with ADP and workforce
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to work independently or part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Word and Excel
- Jonas Enterprise experience is an asset
- Construction experience is an asset
