MacDougall Steel Erectors Inc. (MSE) located in Borden PE, with sites across Canada, is an industry leader in the fabrication and installation of both structural steel and miscellaneous metals. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, experienced General Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, and conducting internal audits. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity and growth of the company
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
· Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.
· Prepare and analyze financial reports to support decision-making processes
· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
· Post journal entries and manage accruals and prepayments.
· Oversee invoicing, collections, and payments.
· Ensure timely processing of accounts payable and receivable.
· Process payroll and ensure accurate payroll tax filings.
· Assist with the preparation and filing of sales tax returns and corporate income tax.
· Assist in the preparation for audits, including gathering documentation and providing necessary support to auditors.
· Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
· Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
· Provide insights on cost reduction and profit improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
· CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
· 3-5 years experience in general accounting or related field
· Strong analytical and organizational skills
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
· Proficient with Microsoft SharePoint would be an asset.
