As a family farm and first-generation greenhouse operation we are looking for a Admin Assistant & Accounting Technician to join our team at our organic greenhouse vegetable farm. In this role you will be responsible for the day to day entries (AP, AR, Payroll, Rec’s) along with some administrative and reception type duties. Supported by a team of capable managers and growers you will work under the Operations Manager and report directly to the CEO and owner.
This role is in a dynamic and modern farm office where the successful candidate will be able to balance and organize their workload in an active environment. In order to meet timelines you will have to be able to plan in advance and prompt team members needed. Though you will be working closely with the management team this work is very independent and the successful candidate will need to be independent and self directed to be excel in the role. Job Details:

Your responsibilities:
- Ensure that the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting requirements are met
- Reconciliation of banks, credit card and other asset accounts as required
- Calculate and distribute biweekly payroll
- Posting income and expense, set up of recurring transactions
- Processing and balancing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Generate customer statements and oversee customer collections
- Assisting as required in year end transactions and preparations
- Organize and update financial records as needed (digital and physical)
- Working with management team for administrative requirements of various compliance programs (food safety, organic, worker contracts)
- Receptionist duties during regular business hours – Exhibits polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, in-person and mail.
- Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, scanning, note-taking etc.
- Help maintain office workspace including supplies inventory
- Working with other team members ( or mgmt. team ) to develop and maintain systems that support the smooth, successful and integrated operation of the administrative function.
- Perform other duties as required.
Our requirements:
- Diploma in accounting or related field or equivalent experience ( minimum of 2 years)

- Strong working knowledge of accounting processes and best practices
- Strong people skills, team player, professional attitude & presentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively and multi-task
- Strong knowledge and ability with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Experience using AgExpert accounting software an asset ( not required)
