We’re looking to hire a Payroll Administrator for an 6 month contract to join our team. As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of payroll processes and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Process timely and accurate payroll for salary and hourly staff on a weekly basis for union and non-unionized employees
- Process new hires, terminations, status change, pay rate changes and other employee data
- Respond to all payroll related inquiries internal and external
- Prepare payroll journal entries for all our companies
- Issue Records of Employment in a timely manner
- Monitor time off policies assignment and balances, and ensure balances are correct
- Company vacation accruals and vacation management
- Process and monitor garnishment orders
- Employee benefits plan administration and reconciliation
- Union agreements administration and ensuring payroll is executed in accordance with the agreements
- Maintain and update payroll records on all platforms
- Create T4 slips, T2200’s, year-end, reconciliation, and distribution
- Maintain compliance with all government agencies in Canada (Federal & Provincial)
- Prepare and analyze month end journal entries, accruals
- Monthly WSIB filings
- GL analysis on all payroll related accounts
- Prepare periodic payroll reports
- Other accounting/payroll related duties assigned by the manager
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- University degree required in business-related field, PCP certificate is preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll
- Working knowledge of ADP WFN software is beneficial
- The candidate will possess a proactive work ethic
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, organization, time management and problem-solving skills
- Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
- Ability to work with confidential, sensitive information and maintain discretion
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and math skills
