MATRIX is seeking a full-time
Accounting Manager to be based in our Osoyoos, BC corporate office. This position will oversee the accounts payables and accounts receivables team, supporting our projects located across Canada, by leading the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting. Innovation, attention to detail, and resourcefulness will be key aspects to the success of this role.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. This position is responsible for driving team performance and getting the most out of individual contributors.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all the following:
- Reports to the Chief Operating Officer
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, working closely with the Corporate Controller
- Builds and manages monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, as directed
- Develops strategies to increase return on investment and profitability
- Presents financial reports to Senior Leadership, and other stakeholders
- Collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team to create budgets and track key performance indicators
- Meets deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Knows and adheres to generally accepted Canadian accounting principles (GAAP)
- Controls and participates with, all aspects of accounting, which include, but are not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing and controlling the general ledgers
- Leads the credit cards, bank and accounts payables reconciliation cycles
- Assists both A/P and A/R functions when required
- In collaboration with the Corporate Controller, Prepares all financial regulatory reports
- Guarantees that the company is compliant with all regulatory bodies at the local, provincial, territorial, and federal levels, including PST, GST and payroll
- Documents the business processes to control the internal procedures and financial controls
- Works with the other departments to create unique and innovative ideas, specifically on project based budgeting, and timely collections of invoices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. CPA or working towards CPA designation is preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian GAAP
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems
