We are currently looking for an Accounts Payable Manager at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON
The VGCA Accounting Shared Services Center provides essential back office accounting functions for General Ledger, Inventory, Accounts Receivable and Affiliates, Accounts Payable (AP), and Fixed Assets for multiple VW group companies including Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Factory Production, CARIAD, ADMT and Electric Vehicle infrastructure.
The Accounts Payable Manager, NSC is responsible for leading a team of 8, which include 7 AP Coordinators and 1 AP Specialists in the VCGA Accounting Shared Service Center for activities related to accurate and timely recording of liabilities for Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini for both the US and Canada, and ADMT; in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. The Accounts Payable Manager, NSC supports with various audits and providing NSC and ADMT audit requirements and analysis for various external and internal audits (quarterly, year-end, group audits and adhoc). Additional responsibilities include some ownership and execution of various projects that impact area of responsibility within AP, coming from business initiatives and IT requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
Leadership & Project Responsibilities:
- Perform leadership tasks throughout the year including objective setting, midyear reviews, development plans and year end reviews
- Daily coaching for performance of team members
- Responsible for completing all HR requirements related to hiring and on-boarding of new staff
- Leads and/or supports various projects with Business Partners to ensure all requirements from an AP perspective are covered, testing is adequate, and successful implementation
Process Improvements
- Facilitate process improvements or process re-structuring by conducting reviews related to all aspects of invoice processing (auditing, posting, post-audit, customer service and document retention), always striving for benchmark, streamlined and measurable processes, creating and updating metrics templates and KPI dashboards where appropriate
- Ensure that all entries originating with Accounts Payable comply with internal procedures and policies
Role Responsibilities
- Uphold the integrity of the financial statements through verifying invoices and approvals, ensuring that liabilities and related allocations are posted completely, accurately and released timely for payment
- Review and approve daily/monthly reports and reconciliations for internal controls
- Prepare annual 1099 tax reports for AP transactions for all US companies for the Tax Department
- Determine cut-off of invoice postings at month-end, and provide amounts to be potentially accrued to assist Controlling and other Business Owners
- Develop, monitor, and support invoicing processes to compensate for open issues and develop solutions by working closely with other departments within Accounting Services and the rest of the Business
- Research and resolve escalated Vendor and Business inquiries regarding problem invoices, always striving for good customer relations and timely issue resolution
- Prepare and distribute quarterly non-po compliance reporting for US and CAN to controlling.
- Ensure NSC payable process maps, narratives, control matrices, quality management documentation, and desk procedures are prepared, updated, tested, and maintained to ensure relevant internal controls are adhered to by team members
- Assist with the completion of assigned monthly, quarterly, yearly closing activities and audit requirements for area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with established deadlines
- Provide back up support to the Manager, Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Payable Manager, Production for any urgent or escalated topics in absence as required
- Administrator for the document retention tool by granting appropriate access requests received from internal employees through myserve, reviewing and removing access on a semi –annual basis, and liaison for any issues or change initiatives with the third party vendor
- All other duties as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or similar fields and/or relevant work experience, with a quantitative focus.
- CPA Designation
- 5+ years experience in a professional accounting environment & have minimum 1 year of direct or indirect supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills (conflict resolution, performance management, coaching)
- Ability to project manage & drive results
- Manage communication of complex topics to a varied audience (Audit teams, IT, Controllers, Logistics etc.) to gain acceptance
- Focus on process optimization & improvement
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Creative, outside of the box thinking
- Travel up to 10%
