Mansour Canadian Rail, a subsidiary of Mansour Group, is currently seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as an Accountant. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent attention to detail, and is willing to take on a wide variety of tasks.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Quarter and year-end activities including preparing working papers, verifying account balances, and assisting with the preparation of the financial statements
- Preparing, entering, posting, and recording journal entries including various quarterly and year-end accruals
- Prepare detailed analyses, month end reconciliations, and record journal entries as required for general ledger accounts
- Reconciling monthly bank statements
- Preparation of fixed asset schedules and recording fixed asset additions to maintain fixed assets ledger
- Preparing monthly HST remittances and bank loan compliance
- Various administrative tasks such as invoicing, entering and coding payables, filing, billing, and doing payroll (oversee role)
- Leading a system implementation as well as assisting in maintaining the accounting system Documenting and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Assisting staff with system and accounting related questions
- Perform other related duties as required
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare and analyze reports, including budget preparation, for the CFO and Divisional Managers
- Perform variance analyses and drive corrective actions
- Be proactive in operational and profitability improvement opportunities
- Ensure quality of all financial reporting

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Great Plains (Microsoft GP) experience is an asset
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and use discretion in dealing with confidential information
- Ability to develop, recommend, and implement new accounting business processes and internal controls
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills Acceptable attendance and former employment history
