PAYROLL/BENEFITS CLERK
Temporary Full-Time - 6 month contract (with possibility of extension)
Wage range: $22.48 - $26.46 (commensurate with experience)
Our Payroll/Benefits Clerks prepare and process biweekly payroll for all four of our organizations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data input, deductions and reporting. They maintain employee files and perform all related compliance and remittance functions related to payroll, benefits and pension. Our Payroll/Benefits Clerks are key contributors to the department’s data management and analytics processes and function as a cohesive team within the Corporate Services division.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Entering and maintaining employee database information
- Managing accruals for seniority, vacation time, overtime and statutory holidays
- Advising on pension and insurance issues and managing employee enrollments and updates
- Issuing and reconciling pay stubs, T4 Statements of Remuneration, Records of Employment and other official documentation
- Liaising closely with HR, Scheduling, department managers and benefits/pension providers
- Assisting staff with entitlement issues related to legislated, medical, WSIB, long term disability, or personal leaves of absence
- Assisting retiring or terminating employees with continuance of benefits, pension transfers and related issues
- Providing customer service to staff to advise on payroll issues, policy interpretation, collective agreement language, and general entitlements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of or (minimally) registration in the Canadian Payroll Association Certification
- Diploma in Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Bookkeeping, Financial Management or related field
- Two years of demonstrated experience in payroll administration is an asset
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (2 Doses)
