Supporting Mushuau Innu First Nation (MIFIN), the Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for managing and processing incoming receipts, maintaining accurate records of financial transactions, and ensuring that all accounts are up to date. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
This position is based at MIFIN's Finance Office in Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- generate and distribute invoices to customers in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all billing is accurate and complete, including applying appropriate taxes and discounts.
- Receive and record payments from customers via various methods (e.g., cheques, credit cards, wire transfers).
- Accurately apply receipts to customer accounts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all receipts are accounted for and properly posted.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to customer payments or account balances.
- Monitor overdue accounts and follow up with customers regarding past due balances.
- Work with customers to develop payment plans as necessary and escalate collection efforts when required.
- Prepare reports on account status, aged reports, and other financial summaries as needed.
- Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation as requested.
Program and Service Delivery
- Respond to customer service inquiries related to billing, payments, and account status.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing and resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliances with company policies and procedures as well as relevant laws and regulations.
Relationship Management
- Be respectful and unbiased in carrying out your work responsibilities as a service provider to the community.

Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilitities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly in Excel.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
- A positive team player with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and pay great attention to detail.
- Understand and promote Mushuau Innu First Nation's culture, language, and values.
Experience and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar financial role.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage 50, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) is an asset.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to successfully and periodically undergo an appropriate criminal records review and police record check is required.
