We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented and versatile Accounting Assistant/ Bookkeeper to work in a role based in our Montreal office. You will be responsible for supporting our accounting team, providing your skills for various accounting related duties
You will be responsible for the following:
- Bookkeeping, AR, AP, filing GST/QST reports, Payroll, Financials, Year end entries, Corporate tax return (full accounting cycle)
-Reporting to the senior accountant, the assistant will have diversified tasks and responsibilities at the administrative and accountants for the company who are mostly small business
-Filing personal taxes, follow up with clients and keeping track of work
-Answering and gathering information through phone calls and from walk-in clients
-Being aware of the office environment and active participation in the day to day office admin work
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in Canadian based accounting
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in finance or accounting or equivalent
- Ability to work in a high pace environment while respecting tight deadlines
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and systems
- Strong Hands-on experience with accounting softwares
- Experience with general ledger functions
- Strong Analytical Skills – with the ability to dig into an issue or problem with minimal supervision and direction
- Flair for spotting numerical mistakes and strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – this position interacts with a wide variety of employees
- Team player - someone comfortable pitching in on a variety of tasks
- Flexible – highly adaptable and comfortable with change
- Curious – this person should not be content with status quo – this position requires someone who is comfortable in recommending improvements to any and all processes
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly in Excel is essential. Sage50 and knowledge of online accounting softwares is an asset
