Position: FT Staff Accountant

Extend Financial Ltd is a rapidly growing mortgage company and we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced staff accountant to join our close-knit team of professionals. As part of Extend, you will have exposure to all facets of the accounting cycle.
You will have responsibility for the accounting of all transactions, and maintenance of working papers for our annual audits done by our outside accounting firm. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to work well with minimal supervision and balance multiple tasks and files with great accuracy. A strong grasp of pivot tables and Vlook up skills is essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, and recording daily transactions in QBO.
- Creating adjusting entries in QBO based on amortization, deferral and prepaid schedules that you will prepare and maintain. Schedules wil form part of working papers for audit.
- Preparation of tax compliance and information filings including T4 and T5, as applicable
- Ensuring that all audit and accounting issues are properly identified and resolved in a timely manner
- Understanding accounting technical standards relevant to financial reporting in Canada
- Effectively communicating with the team, clients, and relevant government agencies
Qualifications:
- University degree with a specialization in accounting / finance
- Completion of or close to completion of CPA, CA designation
- Strong experience with QBO, Excel pivot tables and VLook-Up is required. BMO and TD Web Business Banking platforms, Salesforce and prior knowledge of The Mortgage Office software would be advantageous.
