Job Duties of this position include:
- Keep financial records for each transaction in accordance with Law Society requirements
- Balance and reconcile month end reports/bank account/ledgers in accordance with Law Society requirements
- Balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems;
- Record and post transactions in journals and the general ledger for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll;
- Prepare and issue invoices in accordance with established procedures;
- Prepare cheques for utilities, tax and other bills;
- Complete and submit tax remittance forms;
- Prepare accounting summaries and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information; note & report discrepancies found in records and prepare trial balances of books
- Operate computers equipped with accounting software to record financial information, invoices, & fee receipts
- Maintain and balance various accounts and check all figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
- Calculate, prepare bank deposits and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
- Knowledge of relevant computer applications, PCLaw, Quickbooks, Cosmolex, Soluno
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Mandatory Experience Requirement to be considered for Role:
- Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping
- Minimum 3-5 years experience with Law Firm Bookkeeping
- Minimum 3-5 years experience QuickBooks
- Minimum 3-5 years experience with one of Cosmolex, PCLaw, Soluno,LEAP
- Additional Skills & Assets:
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
- Education: Completion of College program in Bookkeeping/Accounting/Business or related fields
- Language Requirement: English
