We are currently seeking a highly organized Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring 3-5 years of accounting experience, a meticulous eye for detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement. This role focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, ensuring timely and precise financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The position is based in Toronto and offers a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Closing and delivering full financial statements like balance sheet, P&L, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and deliver full financial accounts, including balance sheet statements, income statements, and cash flow statements at the end of each month.
- Conduct month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial data is finalized and reported accurately.
- Prepare and file GST returns accurately and timely.
- Processing monthly/quarterly HST/GST/Payroll remittances (Canada and Ireland)
- Processing annual T4s
- Generate and analyze monthly profit & loss statements.
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing for employees, ensuring accurate and timely disbursements.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits as required.
- Collaborate with the management to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurately stated and discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Work in collaboration with accounting professionals on the Ireland team to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting across regions.
- Providing support in managing larger training and consulting projects – tracking of days, costs and margin
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
- The ability to deliver full financial accounts and balance sheet statements at the end of each month is crucial
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in the use of various accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Ability to work independently as well in a team environment
- Excellent Excel skills and experience with other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Based in Toronto with the ability to travel for hybrid work
