Main Duties:
- Full cycle accounting/bookkeeping for multiple companies including accounts payable and receivable, inventory, intercompany transactions.
- Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing/posting adjusting journal entries.
- Reconciling multi-company credit cards, bank statements and intercompany accounts.
- Posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals and prepaids.
- On-line filing HST/GST/QST returns with CRA and Revenu Quebec; WSIB/WCB, etc.
- Liaise with Revenue Canada/Revenu Quebec and Government of Alberta regarding filing questions/audits.
- Monitoring/adjusting monthly corporate tax installments to maintain minimal balance owing at year end.
- Reconcile and close year-end; submit and liaise with accountants regarding year end preparation.
- Assist with cross functional financial reporting requirements including gathering information needs, reports creation, dashboards, and KPI analysis.
- Assist with data analysis to support weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Work with other members of the finance team to identify areas for process improvements.
- Taking the lead role in transitioning our accounting software from Sage to a new multi-corporate cloud-based platform - ODOO.
- Assisting with one-off project work as required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, finance, or related field
- Have a minimum of three years of full cycle accounting experience demonstrating the ability to accurately calculate, post, correct and manage figures and financial records.
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Advanced skills using accounting software including working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Accounting Software, such as NetSuite, Sage, SAP or other.
- Knowledge of Ceridian payroll an asset.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills, with a good dose of common sense and initiative.
- Experience in a multi-entity organization.
- Results-oriented and process driven, with high expectations for self and team.
- Ability to effectively receive and communicate constructive feedback.
- Smart, fun, goal oriented and driven by integrity.
Preferred/Asset:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
