Position Overview: The Accountant manages, maintains, and performs general accounting activities while carrying out their duties and responsibilities in a competent, trust-worthy and loyal manner. The Accountant is expected to maintain a level of work that is quality based, timely, efficient, and professional on behalf of IMW.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or review and approve general ledger entries.
- Manage the month end close process and ensure it is timely and accurate.
- Maintain general ledger and reconcile sub-system (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Work in Progress, Intercompany balances).
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
- Inventory Management including managing daily/ annual physical count process.
- Create and maintain projects in the SAP system, perform POC Revenue recognition.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and supporting Annual/Half Year End Audit activity.
- Prepare and/or review and approve Bank, Vendor, Receivables, Card reconciliations
- Provide reasons for key variances in a manufacturing setup of financial results.
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecast/Other management reports.
- Prepare and submit monthly GST/PST & Other statutory returns
- Provide information support for the preparation and filing of tax returns.
- Maintain an adequate system of record retention within the company.
- Know and understand workplace health and safety rights and responsibilities.
- Follow safe work procedures and act safely in the workplace at all times.
- Maintain a safe working environment within the department and on each job.
- Use the protective clothing, devices, and equipment required for the job.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
- Perform work in accordance with IMW-documented policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
- Completion of a business degree with a focus on accounting.
Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment & SAP preferred.
- Proficient with 2-3 years of experience in periodic closure of books of accounts and financial statement preparation.
Physical
- Regularly required to stand walk or sit; use hands to operate computers, and office equipment; use vision and hearing to deal with communication and office materials.
Language
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and general public.
- Ability to make decisions, give clear and concise directions, and carry them out.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in SAP
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
Certifications / Licences / Permits
- SAP FICO preferred
