Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team full-time. This in-person role requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and has a strong understanding of accounting principles. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all bookkeeping activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

Processing and Reviewing Invoices: Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all invoices.
Tracking and Processing Progress Billing Reports: Manage and monitor progress billing to maintain financial control.
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Management: Follow up with overdue accounts, collect payments over the phone, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
Monthly Bank Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Reconcile balance sheets and ensure all entries are accurate and complete.
Income Statement Analysis: Review income statements for accuracy and completeness.
GST and PST Remittances: Prepare and submit remittances for GST and PST.
Employee Hours and Job Materials Tracking: Confirm that employee hours and job materials align with internal tracking software.
Payroll Support: Submit time sheets and assist with payroll processing.
On-boarding Paperwork: Prepare all necessary paperwork for new team members.
Clerical/Administrative Functions: Perform data entry and provide administrative support as needed.
General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
Accounting System Transactions: Generate transactions in the accounting system as directed.

Qualifications:

Formal education in accounting or bookkeeping (e.g., certificate, diploma, or degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field from a recognized institution).
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, ideally in a Canadian setting.
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, practices, and tax laws, including GST/HST.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online preferred) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Experience in the construction or marketing industries is an asset.
Familiarity with Manitoba-specific regulations and tax requirements, including payroll deductions and remittances.
