A local firm of chartered professional accountants in York Region that offer a full range of accounting services are seeking a Senior Accountant.

The selected candidate will be responsible for all types of public practice engagements. Experience with small to medium size organizations with an emphasis on assurance is essential. A self-starter able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

The position is on-site in Newmarket. WFH and hybrid workplace options may be negotiable after appropriate training and probationary periods.

Responsibilities

Preparation of year-end engagements and tax returns for clients in a variety of businesses and non-profit enterprises

Ability to prepare and complete working papers, financial statements and tax returns according to Firm and regulatory standards for clients in a variety of businesses and non-profit enterprise

Build effective working relationships with client contacts, and respond effectively to client requests and suggestions related to the engagement

Identify new business opportunities with existing clients

Qualifications

CPA designation along with expansive knowledge of GAAP

Minimum of five years of public accounting experience is required, including ability to organize and manage and review client assignments

Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Word and Excel), Caseware, Caseview, and Taxprep

Ability to prioritize workloads and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE reporting standards
Good working knowledge of the Income Tax Act
Strong knowledge of business, accounting and management practices along with excellent communication skills.
