Payroll and General Accounting Administrator
Position Summary
Family-owned grocery store since 1929 based in Markham is looking for a Payroll and General Accounting Administrator. We are looking for a mature, knowledgeable and detail-oriented individual with 10-15 years of experience in accounting and payroll. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the store hourly payroll and general accounting administration. Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills, the ability to perform multiple tasks and work independently. this is a permeant part time position 3-4 days per week.
Responsibilities:
· Process payroll for hourly employees
· Responsible for all transactions related to the employee life cycle; ensure they are submitted accurately and within the required payroll deadlines
· Review team member timecards using Owl Timeclock; identify inconsistencies; liaise with managers to resolve issues
· Prepare and maintain payroll documentation, records
· Prepare bi-annual employees’ evaluation & pay-increment schedule
· Process employees’ benefits activation & monthly payment
· Prepare payroll journal entries
· Summarize sales data and process weekly sales report
· Reconcile all company bank accounts weekly or monthly
· Prepare inventory count sheets and process journal entry for inventory discrepancies every 4 months
· Reconcile various G/L accounts monthly
· Prepare monthly HST accounts for two companies
· Prepare prepaid account allocation every 4 months
· Prepare depreciation/amortization journal entries every 4 months
· Prepare accrual of A/P invoices every 4 months
· Print various reports daily from third party websites
· Prepare various reports weekly for the two companies
· Assist the controller with miscellaneous tasks and year-end activities

Qualifications:
· University degree or College diploma in Finance and Accounting
· Previous Payroll administration experience with a focus on payroll
· Proficiency with Sage 300 accounting software & Microsoft Office
· Familiarity in payroll system, Desjardins in particular preferred
· Self-motivated and ability to work independently
· Someone with the discretion, tact, diplomacy, and attention to detail are essential
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills
