Qualifications:
Education:
- Post-secondary education in finance or accounting.
- An individual working towards an accounting designation is desirable.
Experience:
- Experience in the construction industry with similar responsibilities.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with construction databases (e.g., Acumatica, Procore, Jonas) preferred.
- Strong personal initiative, combined with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Transaction Processing
- Process and update accurate financial entries to ensure the proper recording of all business transactions.
- Maintain accounts payable and receivable, issue invoices, and perform reconciliations.
- Update and maintain financial statements to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Financial Reporting
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including profit and loss statements, cash flow records, and balance sheets.
- Support senior accountants in monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Assist in reviewing financial records, expenses, and other financial data as assigned.
Vendor Communication
- Discuss billing issues with vendors, providing basic customer service and addressing any questions that arise.
- Maintain effective communication with vendors to ensure accurate financial processes and resolve discrepancies.
Compliance and Documentation
- Assist in reviewing, preparing, and filing reports to confirm the company’s compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Take responsibility for maintaining, updating, and recording documentation related to the company’s fixed assets.
Other Duties
- Provide general support to the accounting department as needed, including assisting with ad-hoc projects and administrative tasks.
