Schedule: Part-time, working 3 to 4 days per week, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 / year based on experience
Position Summary:
The Internal Accountant is responsible for managing the financial activities of the firm, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping, and maintaining organized financial records. The role will focus on report preparation, billing, and compliance with financial regulations. This position requires a high level of proficiency in accounting software, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate monthly financial reports for internal review.
- Provide regular updates to Partners regarding financial performance.
Accounts Receivable:
- Input information from billing systems into accounting system and assisting with collections.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions in the accounting system.
Tax Reporting:
- Prepare monthly HST returns and ensure timely submission to regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and corporate policies.
Data Management:
- Input and update financial data in accounting software, ensuring accuracy and organization.
- Maintain organized documentation for all financial transactions, including receipts, invoices, and payment records.
Software Usage:
- Proficiently use accounting software such as Sage and/or QuickBooks Online for day-to-day tasks.
- Leverage Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for communication and reporting.
Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensure all financial activities are compliant with relevant regulations and firm policies.
- Implement and follow best practices for accounting, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all financial processes.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Accuracy in financial reports and HST returns.
- Timeliness in submitting reports and payments.
- Proficiency and continuous improvement in using accounting software.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
Accounting Proficiency: Must have strong proficiency in accounting as well as software such as Sage and/or QuickBooks Online; knowledge of CCH iFirm is an asset.
Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Attention to Detail: Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in all financial tasks.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify discrepancies in financial data and resolve them efficiently.
